The number of new Covid cases in Bengal surpassed all previous daily records to touch 743 on Saturday and the death figure, too, was the highest so far at 19. Kolkata recorded 242 new cases, which is also the highest for a day so far, on Saturday when the health department, Kolkata Police and KMC set up 18 new containment zones over the last three days.
