
A sero-positivity survey carried out by a private laboratory has indicated that 26% of Kolkata’s population and 23% of Bengal’s population may have already developed Covid antibodies, indicating they have been exposed to the virus, developed immunity and were thereby likely to act as a shield for the rest. The national sero-positivity rate, according to the survey carried out in July-August, stands at 27%.
